Laxmi Agarwal is the Stop Sale Acid, a TV host and an Indian campaigner. In 2005, when Laxmi was 15, a 32-year-old man, Gudda and his alias Nadeem Syed, attacked her. Her story was told among other people in a series on acid attack victims by the Hindustan Times. She is an acid attack survivor and speaks for acid rights victims’ rights. She is the founder of stop cell acid, which is a campaign against the sale of acid violence and acids.
Laxmi started this campaign with #StopSaleAcid which got wide support nationwide. She is also the former director of the Chhan Foundation, a non-government organization dedicated to helping people survivors of acid attacks in India. She was also selected as NDTV Indian of the Year. In 2014, Laxmi won the International Women’s Award by US First Lady Michelle Obama.

Laxmi advocated collecting 27,000 signatures for a petition to curb the sale of acid and also against acid attacks in the Indian Supreme Court. she petitioned the Supreme Court to regulate the sale of acid to the Central and State Governments. Ordered, and parliament made it easy to pursue the prosecution of acid attacks.
In 2014, Laxmi won the International Women’s Award by US First Lady Michelle Obama. Recently, she received International Women’s Empowerment Award 2019 from UNICEF for the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and her campaign Stop Sale Acid.
