Mithali Raj is a very famous and Indian female cricket player. She is the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. Mithali is the highest run scorer in international cricket. She is the only woman who scored more than 6000 runs in ODIs. She has done fifty fifties 7 times. she twice reached the Indian team in the final match of the Women’s World Cup. Mithali Raj was born on December 3, 1982 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Her father’s name is Daurai Raj. He was an Airman (Warrant Officer) in the Indian Air Force. Her mother’s name is leela raj . she is housewife . Mithali also has an older brother named Mithun Raj. She completed her studies from St. johns School, Hyderabad. Mithali started playing cricket at the age of 10. other than this she also practiced classical dance for 8 years. She just joined the Indian team at the age of 17.
In 1997, Mitali Raj was inducted for the first time in the women’s cricket World Cup Indian team at the age of 14. But she was not included in the final match. After that In 1999 she played her first ODI against Ireland. She scored 114 runs in this match. In 2001-2002, she played the first test match against England in Lucknow. When Mithali joined the international test match for the first time, she was out on a duck (Zero) without any runs. But in her career she went ahead with her hard work and set a record by scoring 214 runs in international women’s cricket till date.
Mithali Raj captained the Indian team in the 2005 Women’s Cricket World Cup. In the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian women team defeated England in the first Test series and won the Asia Cup the same year. In August 2006, he led the team for the first Test and series victory in England. And won the second time. she received first rank in the ICC World Rankings in 2010,2011 and 2012. In the Women’s World Cup 2013, Mithali Raj was No. 1 in the ODI rankings. In the captaincy of Mithali Raj, the Indian women team played the final match of the 2017 Women’s World Cup. After playing in the 2017 Women’s World Cup, Mithali Raj had said in an interview that if there is a talented player in the Indian team then the Indian team should play more and more Test matches.
In 2003, she was given the ‘Arjuna Award’ by the Government of India in view of her excellent performance in the sports world. In 2015, she was awarded the fourth largest civil award, ‘Padmashri’ by the Indian government. Other than this she has been awarded the Youth Sports Icon of Excellence Award, Vogue Sportsperson of the Year, BBC 100 Women list 2017.
