Smriti mandhana is an Indian cricketer who plays for the Indian women’s national team. In June 2018, she was nominated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the best female international cricketer. In December 2018, she was awarded the Rachel Heiho-Flint Award by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the Women’s Cricketer of the Year. She was also chosen by the ICC ODI player of the year.
Smriti mandhana was born on 18 july 1996 in Mumbai , Maharashtra. Her father’s name is Shrinivas Mandhana, he was the Former District Level Cricketer. Her mother’s name is smita mandhana. She has a brother named Sharavan Mandhana, he was also the Former District Level Cricketer. She was inspired by his brother to take cricket after playing in the state of Maharashtra under-16 tournament. She completed her schooling. Domestic career:- Smriti got her first breakthrough in October 2013 when she became the first Indian woman to make a double century in a one-day game. While playing for Maharashtra against Gujarat, she scored an unbeaten 224 in 150 balls in the West Zone U-19 tournament in the Alembic Cricket Ground of Vadodara. In the 2016 Women’s Challenger Trophy, she made three half-centuries in three matches for India Red and her team won the trophy by playing an unbeaten 62 off 82 balls in the final against India Blue.
In September 2016, she was contracted with Brisbane Heat for the woman’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for a year. Playing against Melbourne Renegades in January 2017, she fell oddly while fielding after throwing the last ball to hit her knee, in which she scored 89 runs in 12 innings. In June 2018, she signed for Kia Super League final winner Western Storm, during that time she became the first Indian to play in the league. In November 2018, she was nominated for the Hobart Hurricanes team for the 2018-19 Women’s Big Bash League season.
International career :- In August 2014, she made her Test debut against England at Wormsley Park. She won the match by scoring 22 and 51 in the first and second innings. In 2016, she made her first international century (102 runs in 109 balls) in the second one-day match of India’s tour of Australia at Hobart’s Bellevue Oval due to a defeat. In 2016, she was the only Indian player to be nominated in the ICC Women’s Team.
She started the World Cup with 90 against England at Derby in the first match of the group match. she won her team by 35 runs and she was named player of the match. In 2017, she was part of the Indian team reaching the women’s World Cup final, where the team lost to England by nine runs. In March 2018, she made the fastest fifty for India in women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) stability. Next month, for three WODI matches played against the women of England, she was named the player of the series. On 3 August 2018, she made her first century in the 2018 Women’s Cricket Super League.
In October 2018, she was nominated in the Indian team for the Women’s World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies. During the tournament, she became the third cricketer to score 1,000 runs in India’s WT20I matches. She was elected ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women’s ODI Player of the Year.
